What is nascent iodine and how is it different from Lugol’s?

Nascent iodine is iodine in its pure atomic form… unbound and ready for the body to absorb immediately. Lugol’s iodine, on the other hand, contains both iodine (I₂) and potassium iodide (KI), which have to be converted by the body before they can be used.
